All About E-Ink Tablets

You've undoubtedly heard of tablets whether it's Apple's iPad or Samsung Note. And you've probably heard of e-ink readers like Amazon Kindle, even if you've never used one. But are you aware of e-ink tablets? They are essentially a hybrid of these two devices that create a large, black and white tablet which can be used for reading and writing and note taking.

So, what are e-ink tablets? Well, essentially they are tablets that come with a stylus and allow users to freehand draw, take notes or make annotations in documents. They are usually around 10 inches and are designed for helping both students and professionals stay focused on tasks -- whether that's note-taking, scanning through PDFs, or just reading as they do not support a wide variety of distractions like games and social media and usually only offer a rudimentary web browser. You won't be able to stream your favourite show or watch the latest TikTok video on these tablets, but you will be able to take them into the classroom without disturbing the professor or your classmates.

One of the big advantages of e-notes over another tablet such as the iPad or Samsung Galaxy is the battery life. Most tablets give you around 2 days of battery life if you use them for drawing or apps, whereas e-tablets will last a couple of weeks. They are also easier on the eyes, because there is no backlight shining into your eyes. These devices aren't going to replace an iPad, though, as they're mostly just meant for reading and writing.

What else is there to know? Not too much. As we've said these devices are pretty much only designed to do a few things, so if you're looking for a device to take notes on, instead of writing on paper or in a notebook these kind of devices might be exactly what you're looking for. Happy note-taking!
